The Profit Review

Who is Mark Ling?

The name behind Commission Cycle, Profit Helix and a September launch cycle now running its fifth consecutive year.

The background

Mark describes 26 years in online marketing. His better-known earlier ventures are Affilorama, an affiliate training platform, and Traffic Travis, an SEO tool. Both put him in this market long before the current launch format existed.

The line worth paying attention to

He says he has changed traffic source roughly seven times in 26 years and never once changed what he does with the profit. That is the argument underneath this entire product: that the durable skill is capital allocation, not whichever platform is currently cheap. Whether or not you buy Commission Cycle, that idea is worth taking away for free.

The launch record

The partner page states the last four September launches did a combined $21,000,000+ in sales, with returning affiliates describing them as their biggest paydays of the year. Self-reported figures from a page written to recruit partners, so weight them accordingly — but the same partners returning four years running is harder to manufacture than a number is.

What longevity does and does not predict

It predicts that the product will be delivered, supported, and that complaints will be handled, because a person with a 26-year reputation has more to lose than any single launch is worth. It predicts nothing whatsoever about your own results, which depend on inputs he does not control.
